Southwest Airlines Pays-it-Forward
Southwest Airlines Pays-it-Forward At Southwest Airlines, they are committed to giving back to their communities through volunteerism - it's at the heart of what they do. Thanks to volunteer, Dennis “Coach” Warren, Southwest pilot and TCVA Director of Historic Preservation for giving his time and talent to TACAMO Community Veterans Association. TCVA became the recipient of 6 tickets domestic roundtrip travel on Southwest Airlines after Coach submitted over +260 volunteer hours in 2017. He coordinated with commands in Hawaii and Oklahoma City to set up the full military honors ceremony in the National cemetery of the Pacific, known as the Punchbowl, honoring VQ 3 Crew 4. Coach worked with Boneyard Safari to produce video footage of the ceremony for the families of Crew 4 that was shown at the reunion banquet. Along with many hours coordinating efforts for the 2017 reunion held in Oklahoma City. Coach Warren also collected many artifacts and worked on proposals for our future museum display projects.
Southwest rewards volunteering employees with Tickets 4 Time (T4T)
T4T puts a nice twist on corporate volunteering programs, since rather than simply match donations, Southwest is offering their employees the opportunity to earn tickets for nonprofit organizations of their choosing. In Southwest’s words: “We know that our employees do so much for so many organizations and T4T is a great way for Southwest to applaud and encourage employee volunteerism.” Last year Southwest staff collectively volunteered more than 45,000 hours to nonprofit organizations across the country, about one volunteer hour to every Southwest employee. TCVA Board of Directors thanks Coach for his dedication to TCVA in 2017.
