TACAMO Fallen Jeffrey Martin - VQ-4


Jeffrey W. Martin, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a resident of Marietta died January 8, 2023, in Dublin, Ireland. Jeff was graduated from University Military School, Mobile, Alabama, in 1976. A 1981 graduate of the University of South Alabama, Jeff was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He served in the United States Navy as a pilot and continued his career as a captain for Federal Express, flying the Boeing 727, MD-11, AirBus A-300, 757, and the 767 European routes. He served Marietta First United Methodist Church faithfully.


Jeff is survived by his wife, Susan Morgan Martin, his three children, Katharine Martin Pfeiffer (Michael), Marietta, Edward Banks Martin (Grace), Atlanta, Garner Adams Martin (Kayla), Auburn, AL; his mother, Frances Johanna Amos Martin, Naples, FL, brother, David Wayne Martin (Lisa), Fort Walton Beach, FL, and sister, Margaret Martin Vickery (Keith), Naples, FL. Jeff was "Spiffy" to Amelia Morgan Pfeiffer and newborn John Martin Pfeiffer. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Osborne Martin.


Services will be held at Marietta First United Methodist Church, 56 Whitlock Avenue, Sunday, January 29, at 2 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider gifts to the MFUMC Good Samaritan Fund, MUST Ministries, or the Cobb Community Foundation.

I flew with LT Martin in the late 70s. He was a good man, pilot, AC and MC. The LT was always very kind. I remember one late night riding in the bus to the barracks, he had lost his hat. He was very upset with the missing hat. LT I looked and didn’t find your hat, I hope you found it. You will be missed by many. Prays for your family. Blue Skies. James Wirt

I flew with Jeff often in VQ-4. He was a stand up guy and always ready to teach. My heart is broken and prayers are offered up to his family for comfort and support. God speed Jeff. TIL we meet again.
