TACAMO Fallen Veteran - Earl Jones Jr.

June 22, 1963 ~ February 17, 2021

“I was born to wear khaki (The uniform of a Navy Chief).”

Disbursing Clerk at PSD for TACAMO on Tinker AFB

Earl Len Jones Jr. was born on June 22, 1963, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Earl Len Jones Sr. and Mabel (Herrington) Jones. He was a graduate of Waynesville High School class of 1981 in Waynesville, Missouri. He went straight from high school to boot camp at Great Lakes as a seaman recruit in the United States Navy. Earl loved being a sailor and a Navy Chief. Earl once said, “I was born to wear khaki (The uniform of a Navy Chief).” Earl served 23 years in the United States Navy from 1981 to 2004. He retired as DKC (SW) Earl Len Jones Jr. with many honors and awards. Upon his retirement from the Navy, Earl earned an Associates of Arts from Rose State College and went on to work for the Federal Government as a Housing Specialist for the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Oklahoma City, where he resided until his passing. He enjoyed his job and camaraderie with his coworkers. Earl married Toni Thomas on July 15, 1983, in Jackson, Mississippi. They were happily married for 37 and a half years. Earl and Toni had three beautiful children together. The only thing Earl loved more than the Navy was his family. He was so proud of his wife, children and grandchildren. You could see and hear the love he had for them in everything that he did for them. In 1998, when Earl was assigned his next duty station, his family moved to Oklahoma and it became their permanent state of residency. Earl was an avid fisherman, golfer and a PopPop extraordinaire. Trips to Disney World, attending and coaching volleyball, going to track meets, basketball and football games to support his grandchildren gave him great joy. He also loved to travel with his wife and enjoy the time they had together as empty nesters. Earl is preceded in death by his grandson, Malakai Ude and his sister, Cassandra Jones. He is survived by his wife, Toni; daughters, Rene' (Cory) Bennett of Garland, Tx, Whitney (Marcus) Ude of Oklahoma City, OK; and his son, Earl Jones III of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren, Peyton, Cory Jr., Maleigha, Trindon, Mariah, and Vaelin; his parents, Earl and Mabel Jones of Tinker AFB, OK; and a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. This loving husband, father, and grandfather transitioned to be with the Lord with his wife and children by his side on February 17, 2021 at 15:33 pm. He is truly and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. "Fair Winds and Following Seas"
