TACAMO Fallen Veteran - William Hess
April 11, 1961 - February 7, 2022
William served in VQ3, VQ4, and the STRATCOMWING One from 1979-1996.
William "Bill" Hess passed away February 7, 2022 in Norman, Ok at the age of 60.
Bill was born to Phil Zane and Bonita Jean Hess on April 11, 1961 in Athens, OH. He graduated from Alexander High School in Albany, OH in 1979. He went onto serve in the Navy from September 25th, 1979 to December 31, 1996 when he retired. While serving in Hawaii, he met his wife Jo and stepson, Scott. Jo and Bill got married on August 22nd, 1988 in Lexington Park, Maryland. In January 1993 they moved to Oklahoma when the Navy homeported to Tinker Airforce base, where he finished his career and retired from the Navy in 1996. He went onto do telecommunications for AT&T, retiring from there 20 years later in 2017 and closed out his career at Draftpros Inc.
Bill enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, playing bingo and most of all Bill enjoyed bowling. He was a bowling coach for the youth programs and enjoyed running a special needs league with his family on Saturdays. He bowled on numerous leagues and enjoyed traveling for tournaments.
Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents Ervin and Ruth Mosier and Phil and Mable Hess; father, Phil Hess; mother, Bonita Jean Hurst (Hess); and several aunts and uncles.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jo Hess; children, Scott & Paula Kaesemeyer and Chelsie & Derek Murray; grandchildren, Steven, Dylan, Ellen, and Katrina Kaesemeyer; brother Clay and wife Samantha Hess as well as nieces and nephews.
A visitation for William will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers the family would like outside plants to help create a memorial at his home.
