TACAMO Memorial Day, June 21

This memorial is for All TACAMO Fallen and a memorial placed for Crew4 to rest. It has become the place to recognize All TACAMO Fallen

As we pay tribute to All TACAMO Fallen, TCVA would like to share another tragedy that occured earlier in the day, on June 21, 1977. A young PN (Name unknown) was suffering from meningitis. About dinner time in Guam, VQ-3 reported the PN lost his battle with meningitis.

Let us not forget this year, 2021, TCVA lost two of our founding members, Lyn Zepic TSA founding Secretary and William "Buff" Crowell, TSA founding Vice President. TSA was founded in 1997 and changed the name to TCVA in 2012. (The association’s name was changed due to the government agency TSA)

Let us all take the time today to remember the TACAMO Fallen.

Do you have a TACAMO friend or family member who died? Post a picture and a written tribute to them. Tell what this person and their service meant to you and others can join in the conversation by honoring their memory in their own words.

Why June 21st?

Tribute to TACAMO Fallen began at the 2012 TACAMO Reunion of active duty and Veterans. The incredible journey of honoring and paying tribute to TACAMOPAC Crew 4 began by finding the families of Crew 4. Over the past 10 years, TCVA has held gatherings for the families, paid tribute to the families and friends and brought them together with the last person to visit with them. TACAMOPAC Crew 4 perished off of Wake Island. Those 16 fine men that gave 'that last measure of devotion' to duty, honor and country.

On June 8th, 2017, TCVA dedicated a monument honoring all TACAMO fallen and remembering TACAMOPAC Crew 4 in Honolulu, Hawaii at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, informally known as the Punchbowl. Location: From the chapel, follow the path leading to the Honolulu overlook. The memorial is about 3/4 of the way up, on your right.

Etched on Memorial: DEDICATED TO ALL WHO SERVED THE TACAMO MISSION IN MEMORY OF VQ 3 TACAMO CREW 4 WHO PERISHED OFF THE COAST OF WAKE ISLAND DURING A TACAMOPAC MISSION IN EC-130Q BUNO 156176 AT 2230 HOURS LOCAL ON JUNE 21, 1977
